The Challan That Reached Me Two Weeks Late: A Gujarat Commuter's Story

Well, selling my old car seemed quite easy.

Find a buyer, agree on a mutual price, get the paperwork ready and hand over the keys. At least, that's what I thought or used to think.

Everything was going very smoothly until the buyer asked a simple question: “Bro, are you sure that you don’t have any pending challans?”

And guess what, I confidently said no.

But just to be sure, I decided to do a quick challan checking search. And that's when I realised, I kinda messed up. I had a pending traffic challan from two weeks ago. No message that I remembered, no traffic police stopping me also, nothing.

The violation was recorded during my normal drive through Ahmedabad. I searched for echallan gujarat to know what had exactly happened.

To be honest, I was more confused than stressed.

Like how could I have a traffic fine without even knowing about it? And what if I had sold my car without even checking?

That one question kind of sent me looking for gujarat challan check options, and I got to know how easy it is to miss a pending challan.

Why Didn't I Know About the Challan?

Like most people, I also assumed I'd know on the spot if I broke any traffic rule.

But that's not always how e-challans work.

In Gujarat, traffic cameras and electronic monitoring systems can record violations with or without a police officer stopping your vehicle.

The challan may be issued electronically, and the actual text can reach you a lot later.

That's probably why my challan felt like a surprise.

And here I was going about my everyday routine, completely unaware that something from two weeks ago was still pending.

And honestly, if I hadn't been selling my car, I might not have even checked at all.

How Can You Check a Gujarat E-Challan?

Now, once I found the challan, my next issue was whether it was true or not.

Luckily, doing a gujarat e challan check online is very simple.

You can always check it through the official Parivahan portal:

  1. Visit the Parivahan e-Challan website.

  2. Select the option to check your challan status.

  3. Enter your vehicle number, challan number or driving licence details, as applicable.

  4. Complete your verification and view your challan information.

  5. Check the violation details, fine amount and payment status.

The whole process is a lot easier than visiting a traffic police station just to find out if you have a fine.

Also make sure to never pay through random challan links, be it on WhatsApp or SMS.

Always verify your details first and see if it’s true or not.

What If You Find an Unexpected Challan?

Finding a challan you didn't know anything about can be really annoying. But before paying, just make sure that the details are correct.

Check your vehicle registration number, location, date and type of violation.

What if your challan states a place you've never even visited? Or the vehicle number doesn't match yours?

In that case, don't just ignore it.

You can raise a grievance through the official e-Challan portal or contact the relevant traffic authorities to get your problem checked.

And it's always better to clear your confusion before making a payment.

Why Should You Check Challans Before Selling a Car?

Here's something I truly learned from this whole situation.

When selling a car, we mostly focus on its condition, service history, insurance and RC documents.

Pending traffic challans don't even cross our minds.

But nobody wants to find an unpaid fine in the middle of a vehicle sale, right?

That's why checking your challan status before handing over the keys is a quite smart step and habit.

I also found out about MyMotor, which makes checking pending challans and even paying them a whole lot easier.

Instead of just trying to search for different websites every time, the MyMotor challan check app helps you keep track of your vehicle's challan information in one place.

Small Check Can Save You

This whole incident made me realise something.

That it doesn’t matter if you're selling your car or keeping it for years, there's always something to manage or handle with it.

Insurance renewals, PUC expiry, RC details, service reminders and, of course, pending challans.

That's where MyMotor makes things easier, at least for me.

Along with checking and paying challans, you can also access RC details, track insurance and PUC expiry dates, and keep your vehicle docs handy with GloveBox.

Plus, I recently got to know that you can even charge your EV through the app now. Isn’t that awesome?

As for my car sale, thankfully, I found my challan even before handing over the keys, that would have been really embarrassing.

Now I know one thing for sure, checking your car's condition matters, but checking its records matters just as much.
